The State of Our Education in Nigeria: There’s A Ray of Hope

As a British knight and spy once said, “Knowledge is power” which is why the topic of education in Nigeria has reached the ears and tables of many prominent men and women in Nigeria.
We can safely say that education in Nigeria has evolved tremendously since it was first introduced by the British colonial masters. We have evolved from writing on slates, sitting on benches under trees to writing with pens and pencils on books on comfortable desks and chairs. The evolution has evolved greatly from our early days and now looking forward to introducing electrical devices into our educational sector.
The state of our education continues to grow despite the numerous challenges that have come our way. Although as we evolve, by trying to solve the problems in the educational sector, the government should be careful as not to make problems out of the solutions we have gotten. For example the issue of free education which was meant to reduce the number of uneducated children has now reduced our educational sector’s standard by a few notches because of the lack of funds for the employment of sufficient and well experienced teachers.
Nevertheless, the efforts of the government towards the progression of education is commendable, especially with the introduction of E-Learning during the Covid-19 period. Many believed that Nigeria’s educational sector will be crushed, annihilated, and buried deep in the hearts and minds of those old enough to have reached or passed Junior Secondary Schools, but Nigeria managed to introduce programs on televisions and radios along with E-Learning just to make sure her citizens will not miss out on what the rest of the world were enjoying with ease.
It is truly wonderful to see Nigeria has finally decided to stop using her umbrella of trauma which she was gracefully given while still in captivity. It took some decades and many thought it would last for Eons but it is heartening to see even though it took a trifle bit long she has finally taken it off! As Nigeria is now ready to forget the pains and killing of her children during that dreadful time, she chooses to honor their memory by making sure that there will never be an ignorant generation which will come out of her and thereby push themselves into slavery again, and as we have all seen, are seeing, and will still see, She has gone a long way in achieving that. All those who criticize her by saying what she’s doing is non-existent or merely a handful compared to what other nations’ are doing, they should bridle their tongues because when Nigeria didn’t try at all they were quiet, so if they are not unpatriotic citizens and simply ignorant creatures why is it that at the signs of progress they raise up their voices in antagonism?
We can all truthfully and gladly say our educational sector is growing day by day and soon enough we will be rivalling great countries like Finland.
