Robotic System in Our Modern Days

Olajide Abdul Qahar // SSS3C // Public Relations Officer 2, GCI Press Club

During the last holiday, I had the opportunity to travel to Germany with my uncle who works in the Volkswager Automobile Industry.

Two days after arriving in Berlin, Germany, where my uncle is resident, my uncle took me to his place of work, The Volkswager Automobiles.

On getting to the assembly, I was amazed to see that no human works on the assembly plant, but instead it is run by programs and robots which produce thousands of cars every day.

The world has changed, I expected to see mechanics, panel beaters, etc. but I saw none, only few personnel. The robot does 98percent of the job by an assembly method.

The advent of the robotic systems has created an easier world for humans. Should we talk about the artificial intelligence like that of Google in which one can get information within micro seconds.

The robots have brought about a great advantage for the humans like making work easier and faster, more efficient productivity, longest output of product and spread of information just to mention a few.

In fact, I can now imagine my duties with the help of Google assistant which is an artificial robot.

Besides, the world is a globe with two parts: the dark side and the good side. The robotic system has posed a major threat to our generation.

For one, it has made more people lazy has the dependency on robots increases. In other words, robotics has caused redundancy of our intelligence- especially when we have the help of Google.

Ask a graduate today simple sums, he would rather take out his phone to get a solution.

Also, the robots have been used by the military or mafia for bad purposes like assassination, framing, etc. which is not a good thing to talk about.

In conclusion, while the robotic system has been very helpful in education and other areas of society, its disadvantages cannot be ignored.

The main thing is for us as humans to take the advantages and prevent the disadvantages- the major being overdependence.

If the robotic system might pose a greater threat to our future, it is better we find a solution for laying the foundation for a better society in the future.
