Paren ting

Parenting is the process of raising children and providing them with protection and care in order to ensure their healthy development.

It also refers to the intricacies of raising a child and not exclusively for biological relationship.

The long-standing assumption that parents are the ones with the most powerful force on a child can’t be ignored. Parents are indeed the ones with the most direct and powerful influence over their children.

Parents play a significant role in shaping children’s environment and exposure to other factors that influence development, such as peer relationship.

Moreso, as stated earlier that parents are the ones who affect or influence the behavior of their children or wards in the sense that, good parental support helps children to be positive, healthy and live good long lives. Parents are responsible for providing clarity and understanding as children acquire life skills at the beginning of their lives.

While parents can make positive contributions in the life of a child, they can also make some negative contributions as well. This is primarily through a child being exposed to bad habits or vices of their parents. An English adage states, ‘Charity begins at home’ so it is what children see their parents doing that will reflect in their lives, and even among some of their peers.

Conclusively, parents play an important role in influencing their children whether positively or otherwise. It is important to note that the absence of parents in a child’s life will expose the child to so many bad things.
